GLP Volunteer Fire Dept Drill

The Groton Fire Officers Association sponsored a search and rescue drill June 28 off the coast of Groton Long Point. The training exercise involved multiple local fire, police and medical departments along with the US Coast Guard. The scenario involved a simulated multiple casualty incident (MCI) where a plane had attempted a water landing, after failing to reach the Groton Airport.  Deployed assets included ambulance, incident command, marine search & rescue vessels, aerial drone support and dive teams who conducted large area searches to locate the wreckage, perform victim extraction, administer EMT support and re-float the plane.
A great opportunity to work with our mutual aid partners and practice our skills
